Porsche has introduced the most powerful versions of 911 models, the 911 Turbo and Turbo S. External differences on 2014 Porsche 911 turbo models include newly designed front bumper with air intakes, wider front spoiler, air intakes ahead of rear wheel arches, new rear bumper with spoiler and four rectangular exhaust pipes. Porsche 911 turbo is lighter than its predecessor as company has used light weight materials to build these models.
The Porsche 911 turbo models are widest among the 911 family. It is 28 mm wider than Porsche Carrera 4 which is wider than normal 911. The standard equipment comprises sport seats, 20-inch standard wheels and Bose stereo system. Optional systems available are music system from Burmester, active cruise control system, ceramic brakes, Sport Chrono Plus package with dynamic engine mounts and active anti-roll system known as PDCC. All the optional goodies on 911 Turbo are standard on 911 Turbo S model.
Under the rear lid of Porsche 911 turbo and turbo S is 3.8 liter six cylinder boxer engine. It has a direction injection accompanied by a dual turbo system. The engine produces 520 hp for 911 Turbo and 560 hp on Turbo S version. As a result the Porsche 911 turbo sprint from 0-60 mph in 3.2 seconds whereas the powerful Turbo S clocks in 2.9 seconds. Top speed claimed by 911 Turbo S is 318 km/hr(197 mph).
The brilliance of 911 Turbo versions is not about power but technical features equipped with these models. It involves the All-new wheel drive system which is coupled with Dual-clutch PDK transmissions. The new 911 turbo models comes with standard start/stop
function which improves mileage and thus consumption is 16 percent less than its predecessor. The rear directional axle help these models to be more agile at low speed and stable at high speed. The force between the two axles is distributed through an electronically controlled multi-plate and water cooled clutch system. According to Porsche, this new system can send more torque to the front wheels than the previous system. The new Porsche 911 turbo has active aerodynamics, a new retractable front spoiler and extendable rear spoiler each with three adjustable positions. These technological advancement help the new 911 Turbo S to achieve 7 min 30 seconds lap time at Nurburgring.
The 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S models will be available in United states later this year with a price tag of $ 148,300 and $ 181,100 respectively.
